Hi Birders,
As I drove up my driveway at about 4:30 PM on Friday (1/9) five Eastern
Bluebirds landed in a small tree near the driveway. The tree is close
to one of my bluebird boxes and I think they may have been preparing to
huddle together in the box to stay warm for the night. Several years
ago on a cold fall evening I watched 10-12 Tree Swallows land on my
driveway and one by one pop into another bluebird box near my house.
Sunday (1/11) we had a flock of 75 to 100 American Robins feeding on
juniper berries on several Eastern Redcedars on our property.
We have lived here in Big Lake township for 23 years and have never
seen Bluebirds in the middle of winter!
Good Birding,
Paul Gunderson
