Today my Dad and I took a trip to Sax Zim and Duluth. These were the
Highlights.
Northern Hawk Owl (Seen three miles in on Mcdavit Road. We were not able to
locate the previously posted owl on CR 7 so possibly it has moved to Mcdavit.
Boreal Chickadee's (Admiral Feeding Station)Hoary Redpoll's (One seen at the
Admiral Feeding Station. Other was seen at the Blue Spruce Road Feeding
Station.
Barrow's Goldeneye (Seen in the Canal at Canal Park. This was a male type
plumage.)Snowy Owl (Seen from Park Point sitting on the ice near Wisconsin
Point.)
We were not able to locate any Great Grey Owls in the bog, even though we
went to all the locations. Magpies, Grey Jays, and Snow Buntings were all seen
on CR 7. We tried for the Golden Crowned Sparrow but it was not there as of
3:30 PM. I would like to thank all of the people who have posted on all of
these birds. The information was great on all these locations. I would like to
specifically thank Brad Snelling for giving excellent directions and the
opportunity to see the bird even though it wasn't there at that time.
