The Black Backed Woodpecker origionally found by Milt Blomberg in the St
Wendel SNA is still present. There was one female in the North end of the
area with all the bark chips near the cattails. She only called once and I was
able to watch her for only little while. Otherwise it was cold and quiet with
only a chickadee and crow around.
