Hi All--

With the advent of warmer weather, I have been able to band a few birds.
Today, 12 February 2009, I retrapped two Brown Creepers, one banded on 31
October 2008 and the other on 2 November 2008, both at my Northfield home.
I doubt there are many creeper recoveries--kind of like needles in the
proverbial haystack. Brown Creepers seemed to be attracted to the water
feature last fall and I banded 11 of them. So apparently these two spent
this chilly winter here. I have seen creepers at the feeding station off
and on, occasionally feeding on the ground, apparently on bits of suet
dropped by the woodpeckers and chickadees.
