Our best finds were 1 Tufted Titmouse and 8 White-winged Crossbills along Hay Creek Trail, on or near a feeder station. Titmice were previously reported here by Linda Whyte for the Red Wing CBC. At the Hay Creek feeder station, we both heard a titmouse, and Dave had a quick look at one on a feeder. The White-winged Crossbills were perched on top of a spruce tree. When they flew, the sun clearly showed off their bright white wing bars on black wings, and their lovely pinkish-red color. Other Highlights: Black Duck 2 Colvill Park Common Merganser 2 male Colvill Park Northern Shrike 3 Hwy 1 American Kestrel 1 Hwy 19 about 1 mi. west of Vasa Red-tailed Hawk 5 Bald Eagle 14 Colvill Park, Frontenac State Park, back roads Ring-necked Pheasant 1 Wild Turkey Hay Creek feeders/back roads Pine Siskin my feeders/Hay Creek feeders Common Redpoll my feeders/Hay Creek feeders Horned Lark 8 Purple Finch 6 my feeders If you would like more directions, please e-mail Dave or me.
