Pastor Al Schirmacher and Minnesota birders, Today I had a fantastic day of birding, which concluded at Canal Park. I'm going to be sending out another email shortly regarding the day's total sightings, but thought I would reply to the gull inquiry first...
We did have observe the adult Great Black-backed Gull today, as well as other excellent species including 1 Iceland Gull, 3 Glaucous Gulls (two juveniles and one adult), one RING-BILLED GULL, and the Herring Gulls. I personally haven't observed a Long-tailed Duck in the Duluth harbor since pre-freezing (I saw a female this past fall by the Park Point Airport). I'm putting my photos from today on my computer right now, and I'll have another email sent out shortly - covering today's sightings from Sax-Zim Bog and Canal Park, and pictures too :) Good birding!
