I forgot this: On Sunday I had a large flock of at least a couple of thousand or more swirling small brown birds flying over the fields east of Farmington. They flew in a circle over an area of a couple of miles. They never landed and I could not ever get close enough for a definite ID. I never heard any calls. The only thing I could come up with was that these were Lapland Longspurs. They were always flying over the farm fields. Their flight was of a loose flock, not the tight flocks I associate with smaller flocks of feeding longspurs.
