Photographs from Rice Co., Wells Lake, yesterday, 16 March 2009.

The Ross's Goose was seen independently by Gene Bauer, Dave Bartkey, and
John Holden and me. We all thought it looked a bit large. The photo shows,
however, no grinning patch and a relatively short bill and rounded head. So
it COULD be of hybrid origin, but, all things being equal and not having a
genetic testing kit along, John and I are content to call it Ross's.

(The titmouse photo is from last year.)
