A brief mid-afternoon stop at the archery unit yielded satisfactory
views of small flocks of Greater-white fronted and Ross' geese,
almost directly across from the bench on the point. Though they were
at first on the far side of the open water, they rose up and spent
several minutes circling at low altitude, approaching closer to the
point and giving ample time to view them with binoculars. When they
finally settled back down, they were behind an island of tall grasses,
and no longer visible.
