Wood Ducks arrived on Quiggley Lake yesterday (Sunday) showing interest in our boxes. Today, we had three pairs of Hooded Mergansers puttering and swirling by our boxes. Both usually use the boxes. by the way, if you have never heard the puttering of Hoodies, you have missed one of my favorite birding experiences.
I still have squirrels nesting in some of my boxes. I do not typically evict them, but find that the ducks move in when the opportunity presents itself.
