Hello Minnesota birders, We've got most of our routes filled for the 2009 Western Great Lakes Owl Monitoring Project! Volunteers survey their nine-mile route once between April 1 and 15, stopping at one mile intervals and listening for calling owls. Details are available on our website: http://www.hawkridge.org/research/springowl.html. Doing a survey is a great excuse to get out and go owling while making a valuable contribution to owl research. We need a few more volunteers in order to achieve 100% coverage on our routes. Rumor has it that the Wisconsin routes are all full, and we've had a bit of a border-battle going on for filling the most routes. We don't want THEM to out-do us, do we? Tap into your statehood pride and consider the list below to see if there's a route near you that you'd like to take on... Our open routes are in the following counties: Lake of the Woods Kittson Marshall Norman Becker Clay Otter Tail Cass Crow Wing Grant Todd Morrison Big Stone Stearns Renville Redwood Pipestone Murray Rock Waseca Blue Earth Steele Dakota Goodhue Thanks for your consideration, Julie Julie O'Connor Owl Monitoring Volunteer Coordinator http://www.hawkridge.org/research/springowl.html Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory [email protected] 218-348-2291
