Most of the Red Rock eagles were gone this morning. I counted about 15 -
almost all immatures in groups of 3 - 4. It's interesting that the last of the
ice
also disappeared last night. Meanwhile, new birds have arrived. Yesterday
evening, I saw two egrets, a pelican and a nice variety of ducks, mostly out
on the larger Pig's Eye Lake, just north of Red Rock. And it was exciting to
see
a huge vee of about 100 tundra swans calling high overhead, heading on past
downtown St. Paul.
