About 10 male Hooded Mergansers competing for two females at the south
end of Zachary Lane (dirt road) off the boat dock on the west side of
Eagle Lake. Beautiful. Pied-billed Grebe in Pike next door to Eagle
along with Fox Sparrows, Wood Ducks, Song Sparrows, many Red-Winged
Blackbirds and grackles. Canadian Geese are courting and scouting
nesting areas. I think I saw a dark juvenile Broad-winged Hawk over
Pike lake but bad light and short scanning. Great Blue Heron, Cedar
Waxwings, one possible Chipping Sparrow and way too many deer.
