Last evening, Frank Gosiak and I found an excellently displayed Hoary Redpoll in a lilac thicket of ~50 Common Redpolls.
Also of note: 6-Fox Sparrows, 3-silver Harriers, Swamp Sparrows, and the most beautiful Turkey Vulture-a white-fringed underwing plumage contrasting with the dark body, very unlike the normal biege-like fringe. Teaching colleague, J. Yourczek saw 3- American Golden Plovers in the morning, Frank saw Semi-palmated plovers, both along roadways because of the wet snowfall. Today, in Stearns, a count of 23 Red-tailed Hawks on my journey home, via Freeport to St. Cloud. Freeport and Albany wastewater ponds remain frozen. Runoff low spots had no shorebirds, save one Killdeer. mjb ---- Join or Leave mou-net:http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives:http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
