On the riverbank dirt paths east of the Lilydale boat ramp there was
at least one, possibly two, hermit thrushes foraging.
A pair of Canadas appear to have a nest at the base of a power pole on
the North side of Pickerel Lake, and the bald eagle is still patiently
brooding on the nest to the west of the big parking lot. While
checking on the eagle I noticed two old oriole nests, hanging in plain
sight by the road, missed in previous walks. That served to remind
that those of us interested in the BBA need to be alert to things we
might miss if we search too narrowly.
