Slowly but surely migrants are making their way into the area. 2 expected
birds missed yesterday were Fox and White-throated Sparrows.
New shorebirds for the spring to the area for me were Greater, Lesser
Yellowlegs, and Pectoral Sandpiper.
At Carver Park, I counted 21 Yellow-rumped Warblers, at least 8 Golden-crowned
Kinglets, and 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets. I also heard some Virginia Rail but did
not see a single one. Others seen
Hermit Thrush, Field, Swamp, Vesper Sparrow, Brown Creeper
The most interesting bird interaction of the day was between a Bald Eagle and
Osprey. I watched as an Osprey dove into a lake and caught a fish. A young
Bald Eagle then came in and started chasing the Osprey to get the fish. Then a
2nd Osprey arrived and the 2 Osprey chased the Eagle.
A Pine Siskin is also still occasionally feeding at my parents in Chaska.
