Sunday morning our local radio station, KAXE Northern Community Radio, passed along a birding alert called in by a listener. Thousands of Sandhill Cranes along US2 at Glacial Ridge. They were not there yesterday. We arrived around 2 PM and found that indeed, there were thousands of cranes congregated in the AG fields just west of the Tilden Junction Gravel operation. I have little confidence in my estimating skills, but I did try counting a group and multiplying up the number of groups of that size. Perhaps 2,500-3,000? Was anyone else up here looking for the C. Teal on Sunday? Did you come across the Sandhills?
