In response to some inquiries, public access to view the mudflats at
the west end of Lake Byllesby is via Dakota County property, located at
the southeast intersection of CR 88 and Hi 56. From this intersection,
go about 1/4 mi. east on CR 88 to the first gate on the right (south
side of the road). Park in the very limited area near the gate or along
CR 88 and walk south toward the lake. Most shorebirds currently are
very close to the north shoreline, so be cautious not to scare them
away as you approach the lake. Scopes are essential.
