9:15am: There was one Le Conte's Sparrow today in the grassy/dogwood area in
the southern part of Westwood Hills Nature Center in St. Louis Park. 8 ladies
from the Mlps Audobon Chapter, the naturalist and I enjoyed superb looks at
this bird; he was perched about 10 feet away, with the sun behind us. He hid in
the grass for a while, then was seen doing that classic sparrow run, then flew
to another patch of dogwoods.

To get to this spot on the trail, grab a map from the interpretive center. Take
the marsh trail west (left) for a while, perhaps 1/2 mile, then you will come
to an open area. Once you past a tamarack on your right, start looking on the
left side of the boardwalk. Ironically, the marsh is on the right side of the
trail.

Besides that, other typical birds were seen. Good birding!
