Made the rounds in the yard today. Nesting season is well underway.

Eastern Bluebird: Day 1 of incubating 5 eggs.

Blue Jay: Sitting on a nest that she/they started building on 4/12/09.

Eastern Phoebe: After failing to complete a nest north of our property, she
returned here and refurbished last year's nest. Very deep nestcup; no eggs.

Black-capped Chickadee:  Two pair, each with nests that appear to be finished;
no eggs.

Robin: Sitting on four eggs. It's the first time I've seen a robin build its
first nest in a deciduous tree. Normally, until the leaves bud out on
deciduous, they build in an evergreen. She seems to be doing fine right out
there in the open on an oak!

Happy Spring!
