Late this afternoon, May 8, there was still a flock of ~130 Snow Geese at the Butterfield sewage ponds in Watonwan Co., and among them were 8 Ross's Geese and 3 Greater White-fronteds. Also present were 2 Willets. (At this same location on May 1, there were 2 Ross's, 4 Gr White-fronteds, and 3 Cackling Geese.)

Earlier today, Paul Egeland, Don Kienholz and I found 13 warbler species along the Minnesota River Valley, especially at Louisville Swamp (Scott Co) and Seven Mile Creek County Park (Nicollet Co). Among these were Blue-winged, Tennessee, Orange-crowned, Blackpoll, Am Redstart, and N Waterthrush.

Other migrants included: Orchard Oriole (Louisville Swamp), Wilson's Phalarope (Belle Plaine sewage ponds), E Kingbird, Gr Crested Flycatcher, 3 vireo species (Warbling, Blue-headed, Yellow-throated), Veery, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Grasshopper Sparrow, and Bobolink.
