Hi folks,
I'll add my comments to Molly's. I was teaching about raptors up in Grand
Marais today
and spent my lunch hour a few miles north of GM, watching these waves of
warblers
flying SOUTH along the shore. Any ideas as to why they were heading that
way...? I
didn't see a single bird heading north.

I also saw Tennessee and Black-throated Green Warblers, but only saw three
shorebirds.
I thoroughly enjoyed a male Blackburnian foraging on the ground two feet from
me!
Gorgeous bird.
Happy migration,
Debbie

Subject: [mou-net] Warbler fallout on the North Shore

Hi everyone,
I was up the North Shore today and experienced waves of warblers - mostly
heading south
down the shore. It was a chilly morning so they were mostly feeding near the
ground in
areas out of the wind. That meant they were flying right by at eye level. I
saw the
following warblers:
Blackburnian, Palm, Cape May, Am. Redstart, Yellow, Black and white, N. Parula,
Yellow
rumped, ovenbird and Nashville.
All along hwy 61, there were flocks flying by. Also in the woods.

Also, at Sugarloaf Cove, there were large flocks of mostly Yellowlegs flying
over.
They were landing in the wetland also. I believe they were greaters. There were
also a
few solitary sandpipers (I'm pretty sure) mixed in with the yellowlegs.
