There were 8 Red-necked Grebes on Assumption Lake in rural Carver
County late this morning. 2 were building a nest of what looked like
reeds and other plants floating on the water at the edge of standing
reeds. Birds early this morning along a trail in northern Chaska were
Yellow, Tennessee, Blackpoll, Black and White, Chestnut-sided, Mourning
Warbler, C. Yellowthroat, A. Redstart, Veery, Eastern Wood-Peewee, and
Scarlet Tanager. A quick stop at Rapid's Lake didn't turn up either
Cuckoo, but there was a late Yellow-rumped Warbler.
