This a.m on my way to work I found another injured hawk on the road..
Scott Co. area.

The first hawk, last Sunday was definitely a juvenile Red Tail Hawk,
the Raptor Center called back and left a message that it didn't make
it, plus the fact that it had detached retinas..so it was basically
blind.

This morning..I did get an actual police officer to come out and he
wanted for animal rescue..I was on my way to work and did not/and was
not in a situation where I could of drove all the way up to St.Paul.

But I guess I have in the back of my mind...who the heck do you call
to rescue a bird..if you are unable to at that time. The first hawk
I found. I called the Highway Patrol to ask if they could call Wildlife
Control or DNR for a rehabber, anything..and basically nothing happened.
I found the bird in the same spot 36 hours later. The bird was so emaciated it was sad.

And as many birds I have rehabbed over the years..a raptor is a different story. Plus, I believe it is illegal as well. I feel
frustrated that their aren't more options out in my neck of the
woods. Or ones I am aware of.

Just venting..I felt horrible that the Red Tail didn't make it. And
got a call this evening from animal control saying they couldn't find
the hawk I called about this a.m. I even went back and looked again
for it.
