The first migrant warbler of the fall was a bold Nashville Warbler at Rapids Lake MVNWR this morning. There was a Mute Swan on Rapids Lake. The ranger there told me it had been on the lake earlier in the week as well. There are exposed mudflats now on the south and southeast side of the lake. They are not easy to get to at all. From the trail on the east side I bushwhacked(suggested by the ranger) my way through grasses, vines, and finally the reeds on the east side of the lake until I broke out into the open. On the mudflats were Killdeer, Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary, and Least Sandpiper.
