I observed the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher this afternoon (August 2) at 4:30 p.m.
in Dodge County. ?It was easily found as it moved from wire to wire along 555th
St. just west of Cty. 1.

I stopped by the Claremont Sewage Pond and found a few shorebirds: ?1 Pectoral,
1 Baird's, 1 Spotted, and 7 Least Sandpipers.

I stopped by the Randolph Industrial Park (284th St. off Hwy 56) looking for
grassland sparrows. ?I found instead a group of about a dozen Gray Patridge on
284th St., West of Dressler. ?They flushed from the road into the grass, though
the adult froze at the edge of the road and allowed me a nice look through my
scope. ?The time was near dusk at 8:10 p.m.

Good birding,

Linda Sparling
