Scharr's Bluff, Spring Lake RP, Hastings
8/22/09
8am-noon

Eight species of warblers. Nice group of migrants. All found on sunny edges.

Migrants included:

-Male Prothonotary (photographed, first migrant of this species I can recall
ever seeing in MN.)
-Northern Parula (female)
-Canada (imm. male)
-Nashville ~ 75
-Tennessee ~ 5
-Black-and-white - few

Plus these 4 vireos, all in the same honeysuckle ! (125 m east of east parking
lot along south edge of woods) In fact, this honeysuckle was THE spot today,
and has been for several days.

-Philadelphia
-Warbling
-Yellow-throated
-Red-eyed

Finally, I had a too brief look (got a very poor photo) of a very pale throated
Myiarchus flycatcher at this same honeysuckle that showed only a hint of yellow
on underparts. Almost certainly an unusually pale Great Crested (way early for
Ash-throated), but keep an eye out, just in case...

good birding,
Jim
Eagan
