I was fortunate enough to be on a pelagic trip off Monterey, CA last weekend in which Cook's Petrel was observed. My reason for sharing this information with you is that the guides compared this year's Cook's Petrel event as akin to the Great Grey Owl invasion a few winters ago in Minnesota. It is a unique event for those listers and chasers to take part in.
