I sent Thomas this msg last night with the note below that he had sent me
about the "disproportionate number" of shifts he was doing at the Fair.
This is where I got the no. "12". I just wanted to show the bkgrd to my
statement. Thomas clearly meant something else----
referring to the 11 times he had worked once before.
This is very tedious and you readers must be irritated to read this. As I
wrote last eve, I didn’t want folks to think I just made something up.
Thanks for your time and have fun at the Fair.
....and Thomas I still think 5 shifts is a lot. good for you.

what the??? I still rely on my memory (old) and shore enuf it still looks
like 12 to me. I don’t want to devp a rep as an exaggerator (or a
prevaricator either) with the other birders out there. although there was
that time I saw a flock of Carolina parakeets on Park Point :=>)
feel free to fwd this everyone. did I misinterpret your msg?
not a huge deal in any case.

"Disproportionage number" would be 12 for me. I used to volunteer for
the State Fair Foundation and one year I worked 11 of the 12 days.
Loved every second of it.

Looking forward to meeting you face to face sometime. I am an environmental
consultant manager so maybe in the line of work?

I had to stop and take a breath on the "12 shifts at the MOU booth"
and "48 hours of work" mention. Felt like I was emulating a chickadee
heart beat there for a bit. Quickly checking my schedule to see if I
had inadvertently made my family fair-orphans and fair-widow, I
breathed a sigh to see I had only signed up for 5 shifts - by the way
all during my favorite fair event times. That would give me 20 hours
of booth time - not much in my mind as I get to mingle with passionate
birders and future birders the ENTIRE TIME! The word "work" doesn't
come to mind for this experience. "Fun" does.

By the way, my family members are probably gonna be wondering what
that hug they get in the morning is for. So briar patches can be
appreciated for successful avoidance rather than a repeat stumbling
and removing thorns months later.

Appreciate the kind words Gordon. Hope to meet you face to face some
day.
