Kirsten and I were driving south on highway 77, about 3"30 p.m. this afternoon. south of 8o, and by the Lao Termple. We saw this hawk sitting on a power pole. These are the notes I made while watching the bird. On orange or tan ring around the base of the neck. Dark brown head. Orange-brown behind the eye. Short tail. Tan wash on the belly. Dark brown back. No wing bars. We would appreciate your comments on this bird's description.
