It has been tallied 420 times in 66 locations. A total of 975 birds have been counted. The highest count was 21 birds enumerated in St. Paul (South Central) in 1961. Bloomington has counted the most - 123, followed by Rochester with 83, and Austin with 72. And then a final handful threw that stuck upon his breast. The Brook-bird's mother did her best to wash the stains away. But there they stuck, and, as it seems, are very like to stay. And so he wears the splashes and the mud blotch as you see. But his songs are bubbling over still with melody and glee.
