This morning I went up to the Superior Landfill, to drop off some old furniture used at Hawk Ridge this past fall (free comfy chairs on the side of the road), and it was my first time inside a landfill. So after we unloaded the soaking-wet chairs, I got the binocs out and did a quick scan. Within a few minutes I had:

This bird looks like a classic juvenile Thayer's Gull with the slightly darker wing tips and and smooth and overall uniform tertials with little mottling. While at Wisconsin Point observing that dark juvenile Iceland Gull, I did not observe the bird in this photo. After the juvenile Iceland Gull could not be found, I located this individual.
