The Bloomington Christmas Count tallied 61 species last Saturday; however, I
await results from ten groups, which will likely add to this total.

Highlights were a White-winged Dove in Burnsville (likely a first Minnesota
Christmas Count record); adult Franklin's Gull in near alternate plumage, as
well as multiple Iceland, Thayer's and Glaucous Gulls (all at Black Dog power
plant; Carolina Wren and Swamp Sparrow in Bloomington.

Birds we often see, but missed on the count, include: Great Blue Heron,
Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, American Coot, Wilson's Snipe, Eastern
Screech-Owl, Snowy Owl, Golden-crowned Kinglet, White-throated Sparrow, all
blackbirds, Snow Bunting and Pine Siskin. Please e-mail me if you observed any
of these species on Saturday.

Thanks.
Mark
