As reported in the International Crane Fdn "Bugle" last year, the wintering flock of whooping cranes had 8.5% mortality last winter, probably due to low water in Guadeloupe River. The Aransas Project has just filed an ESA lawsuit against the Texas Commission of Enviro Quality to protect the cranes.
