Yesterday, Sunday, at 1:30, I spotted a Hawk Owl in the top of a tree beside Hwy 2, north of Two Harbors, about 10 miles south. of Hwy 15. Geat looks at it (one of my passengers had never seen an owl before!) through the falling snow.
Also: friends reported hearing an owl in the woods across Hwy 1 from the National Forest Lodge as they were snowshoeing, about 4:30 Saturday: their description fit the call of a Great Gray. Unfortunately, they coudn't find the bird.....
