We found a few interesting birds on a rambling birding day through Hubbard,
Wadena, Cass, and Todd Counties today.

Black-backed Woodpecker-2 in Hubbard, female 1/2 mile south of Cty 44 on 191st
Ave, male 200 yards east of 185th Ave on Cty Rd 95, both within 30 yards of
road but no obvious tree markings in area, these locations are just north of
Lake George

Evening Grosbeak-Lake George feeders

Gray Jay-on 191st Ave, see female black-backed above

Red Crossbills-same as Gray Jay

White-winged Crossbills-Staples, 7th and Dakota for Todd (per Herb Dingman),
Evergreen Cemetery in north Staples for Wadena Cty, Meadowbrook Twp for Cass
County, found for us by an adult Bald Eagle in the adjoining tree looking at
them

All in all a very interesting day with a few misc other birds being seen
including a nice 50 bird flock of redpolls and several Purple Finches.
