Recent arrivals in Mille Lacs County ("gateway to the north"):

Sandhill Crane
Lapland Longspur
Rusty Blackbird
Common Grackle

The temporary agricultural pond on 169 (just across from Long Siding/CR 13) that was so good in mid-March three years ago is starting to fill with waterfowl. In 2007 74 Greater White-fronted Geese, a number of Snow & Cackling Geese and a single Ross' (latter not personally seen) were all present for a few days - the GWF's were first county record birds at that point.

Good birding to all!
