When we lived on Long Island, NY, an occasional House Finch turned up with yellow coloration instead of the usual reddish orange, most noticeable on the rump. I don't remember if anyone had any idea why - genetic, dietary??? The brown streaks were the usual intensity.

I've never seen a house finch that had both orange and red colors.
Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention.
