Birding at Grey Cloud Dunes SNA in southern Washington County this morning was fun, with lots of Grasshopper, Vesper, and Field Sparrows and more than a few Lark Sparrows. The Lark Sparrows hang out mostly near the row of trees at the base of the hill. The Lark Sparrows and the Vesper Sparrows were not shy. The Grasshopper Sparrows were all over the place, but hard to see.
I like to walk in from the parking area at the end of 110th Street, near the southeast corner of the SNA (see http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/snas/sna01101/index.html). The view from the top of the hill is lovely, as is the sand prairie.
