Nate & I enjoyed a trip to Big Stone Refuge & Lac Qui Parle County (south to Salt Lake & Madison) yesterday. Highlights included:
* Two White-faced Ibises (gated refuge road little over a mile south of the headquarters, notes at home) * Common Moorhen (responded to IPhone recordings, same location) * Chestnut-collared Longspur male (LQP 28, half a mile from 75) * Ferruginous Hawk (again, near the refuge road) * Cattle Egret (flew over us in Madison while attempting to find Eurasian Collared Doves). Shorebirds were light (only nine total, seven in area, two Willets in Swift County). However, did have 12-13 hawks/raptors. Least & American Bitterns were also stars.
