Carver Park Reserve
Field Trip Summary

Led a trip to Carver park today and also made a few stops at other locations in 
Carver county.  We encountered a good variety of species of birds.  But, the 
only family of birds encountered in numbers were Swallows.  Here are a few of 
the species of birds we encountered.

Carver Park Reserve - 6:00 - 12:15 pm
Chevalle Wetlands - 1:15 - 2:00 PM
Purgatory Creek Wetlands - 2:15 - 3:15 pm
Rapid's Lake Unit, MVNWR - 3:45 - 5:30 pm

Shorebirds - Solitary, Least and Pectoral Sandpiper, Lesser Yellowlegs - Carver 
county road 50, about a mile East of Maria Lake Road.
Wilson's Snipe - displaying bird over the Tamarack Bog at Carver park.
Barred Owl
Yellow-throated Vireo
Blue-headed Vireo
Warbling Vireo
Swainson's Thrush
Gray Catbird
American Pipit
Warblers - Blue-winged, Golden-winged, Orange-crowned, Northern Parula, Yellow, 
Magnolia, Yellow-rumped, Palm, American Redstart, Ovenbird and Common 
Yellowthroat.
Sparrows - 13 species, including Lark, Lincoln's, Harris's, White-crowned and 
Le Conte's.  The Le Conte's Sparrow was observed in a brush pile at Carver 
park.  Near the area where the Henslow's Sparrow has been recently reported.
