After my last posting I went back to Carver Park to quickly check a couple
areas in better light. To my surprise I found another male Cerulean Warbler
away from his normal territory. He was along the tamarack trail at the
southeast end of the bog (along the grassy trail, not the boardwalk). He was
in a low tree singing and preening in perfect view occasionally hopping short
distances but not really moving. He chased another bird that I couldn't really
tell what it was while he chased it, but I assume that it was a Redstart as
there were a couple sharing the tree with him. Walking out to that area from
the nature center, I finally found my first Chestnut-sided Warbler of the year.
In an area that I didn't check earlier I found a flock of Cedar Waxwings with
4 Tennessee Warbler, 2-3 Blackpoll Warbler, and a Veery.
