This morning Bob and I refound the previously reported *Black-backed
Woodpecker* along the Bohall Trail at Itasca State Park. Also along the
trail we had a singing Mourning Warbler and LOTS of Ovenbirds and Eastern
Wood Pewees.
Also at Bert's Cabins, on the north side of the park, we had a *Evening
Grosbeak* at the feeders. The feeders can easily be seen from the road.
This is the only consistent place I know of to find this species anymore, at
least in the summer.

Two days ago we went to Felton Prairie, and for the first time ever did not
find a Longspur on the Longspur Prairie, in spite of driving back and forth
twice. Also no Prairie Chickens. :-( Lots of Marbled Godwits and a
Killdeer with a brood of fluffy little chicks. SO CUTE!
But on the way down, just south of the town of Fertile, we had a *Short-eared
Owl* hunting in a field. (Norman Co??)
