Early morn WO'Brian SP: best finds: Mourning Warbler...sure sounded like a
Hooded at times, beautiful male; Alder Flycatcher, Blue-winged Warblers;
LeConte Sparrow(s)(would like more verification, but at 4:30-5am kinda tough
amid the cachophony of all others, distinct enough, but field experience on
this one for me is low...off to the NE of the curve at the entrance to the
Wetlands trail, a wet meadow. (Anyone have them there before?). (N Washington
County).
Acadian Flycatcher pair back in the deep ravine of the Fall Creek SNA, further
upstream than last year ~100 yards below where the water shows up. Bummer
Cowbirds where down in there too, they are in all habitats I've visited this
spring. Also, BBilled Cuckoo, Wood Thrush and Veeries, did not find Northern
and/or Louisiana Waterthrush (N Washington County).
Osceola Bottomlands: Returning Prothonatary pair, singing strongly in the 1st
backwater slough just below the pull out where the "Welcome to MN" sign is
located. Also had a ruckus of an event w/ a Great Horned Owl in there...vs...
five crows and a Red-shouldered Hawk really taunting on it. SE Chisago County
(Hwy243 bridge open today...may not be tomorrow...best then to park in
Osceola,WI--walk down across the bridge if one can do so despite construction).
