Spent three nights camping at Finland State Forest campgorund and exploring the 
state parks.  6-27 through 6-30.  40 species of birds, 8 warblers.  Most 
notably I heard a sandhill crane on the morning of 6-28 east of my camp.  It 
sounded like it was on the ground as opposed to flying by.  I heard it call 
several times over approximately one minute and it didn't appear to change 
locations.  I missed the black-throated blue at Tettegouche Camp.  As we were 
sitting on the top of the overlook I thought I heard something over the squeals 
of my kids that sounded different than the hermit thrush and oven bird that 
were singing constantly.  I told everybody to be quiet and listen because I 
thought I might have heard the warbler.  My three year old daughter wrinkled 
her nose and whispered to her mom, "I think it was just a hermit thrush."  I 
didn't get the black-throated blue, but I was proud as a peacock.  The kids' 
favorite was a hen ruffed grouse with a brood of younguns.  They liked the ten 
foot views. Other favorites were the snowshoe hares and red squirrels.
