Birding this morning at Westwood Hills Nature Park, in St. Louis Park MN with Leslie Marcus and Phoebe Bofferding turned out to be very birdy for migrants. The area that had by far the most birds was the area around the parking lot and in front of the port-O-Pot. We found several Canada Warblers feeding low in the brush along with a Golden- winged Warbler feeding on dead leaves hanging from various small trees. Many Black-and-whites, 1 Male Blackburnian, several Chestnut- sided Warblers and Leslie got a Wilson's before it disappeared. In this same area we watched Juv. Indigo Buntings feeding near the sidewalk, and a male and Juv. Rose-breasted Grosbeak perched and calling in the small trees above the Indigos. In the parking lot at the turn-around was a small puddle where we watched a Canada, Black- and-white, and an Oven Bird use it for drinks and bathing. Here is a map to the park (it is Northwest of the A marker Willow Park on the map)
