Inspired by others' posts about migrant LeConte's Sparrows, I decided to try
and find one at Prairie Island in Winona. At about 10AM Tuesday, I found one.

Directions:
If you are heading west on Prairie Island Road, 50 yds. before McNally Landing,
there is a small pulloff on your LEFT. There is a low chain with yellow
reflectors. Step over the chain, and you are in a small grassland/wetland
complex. You will notice a small path. Follow this path until it forks.
Where it forks, you will notice the right path stays high on a levy, whereas
the left path goes down towards a small pond. The bird was inbetween the
territory created by these two paths. More specifically it was in a low (but
mostly dry) area dominated by a tall grass with a white whispy top (pampas
grass??). I think this whole grassland/wetland complex could be good for
finding LeConte's, but this is where I saw one.
