This weekend, Bill Stauffer and I birded around the county and found a few interesting birds. We found a GREAT GRAY OWL on Aitkin County Road 18, 3 and 7/10 miles east of highway 169. We also had a few EVENING GROSBEAKS in Palisade. Other birds of note: a GREAT HORNED OWL, a BARRED OWL, both SHARP-TAILED GROUSE and RUFFED GROUSE on CR 18, 4 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, several BALD EAGLES, several SNOW BUNTINGS and several flocks of TUNDRA SWANS.
