More than 30 canvasbacks were feeding close to shore at the westernmost end
of White Bear Lake late this afternoon, along with hundreds of coot. They
were easily visible from the walking path where Lake Avenue N meets Shady
Lane. I did not find the long-tailed duck at Vadnais Lake, but did see
goldeneye, canvasback, and one hooded merganser among the many ring-necked
ducks. What a beautiful afternoon!
