I stopped at the viewing platform as well as a little bit further south, where
the birds were closer to the road last Friday afternoon. The weather in Winona
has been quite good so far, so I doubt the river will freeze over at least in
the
next few days. There were thousands of tundra swans, as well as mallards,
green-winged teal, and pintail. By the time I got there, there was about 15
minutes of daylight left, so I didn't get to see much more than that, though I
assume there are other ducks there.
